Elder Martha L. Langston has been united in marriage to Deacon Dwellie Langston for fifty-one years. She is the mother of four and the grandmother of eight. She is retired from Fort Gordon after thirty-years of civil service.  She was a Supply Technician (Automated Clerk).  As she always say, “Happily Retired.”

 

Elder Langston was called into the ministry in 1975. In 1977  after her initial sermon,  she was the first minister to be licensed and ordained by our very own Bishop Rosa L. Williams.   After several years in the vineyard, God saw it was time for elevation and she became the Assistant Pastor and later ordained as an Elder (Presiding).

 

Elder Langston has followed the teachings of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that states "study to show thyself approved unto God.... (2 Timothy 2:15). She has studied at The Calvary Bible Institute where she received a certificate of Honor for Academic Excellence, Summa Cum Laude. She also holds a certificate of Achievement in Church Leadership Enrichment Workshop Series on Evangelism. She also has a diploma in Prison Fellowship Training from Prison Fellowship Ministries. She has received a certificate from Southern Baptist Seminary. She also has received 51 credit hours from Whole Life Ministry School of Theology.  She also received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Theology at the Andersonville Theological Seminary in Camilla, Georgia. Elder Langston believes you are never too old to learn and she believes in continuous learning.

 

Her favorite scripture is Luke 4:18, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor.  He hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of the sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.” Her hobbies include cooking, traveling, and caring for the elderly. Her favorite quote is "Whatever is dead needs to be resurrected.

Elder Langston’s ultimate desire is to please God and to love Him with all her heart, mind, soul and spirit.  And to love everyone with the love of Jesus.   To God be the glory for all the things He has done, is doing and about to do!
